Judith Butler is Maxine Elliot Professor in the Departments of Rhetoric and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Berkeley. She has published widely in the fields of continental philosophy, literary theory, feminist and queer theory, and cultural politics. Her books include Precarious Life: Powers of Mourning and Violence (Verso, 2003) and Undoing Gender (Routledge, 2004).

Sara Salih is Assistant Professor of English at the University of Toronto. She is editor of The History of Mary Prince, a West Indian Slave (2000) and author of Judith Butler (2002).

The following is an excerpt of her feelings:
"When my third baby died two days after birth, I literally sank down into the
depths of despair. She said that after witnessing black soldiers come back home to none of the advantages they fought for overseas, she could do no more speeches in her usual humble, genteel tone. Also, I found Mrs. Writer Helen Candee is romantically involved with a younger scoundrel. If you're a real expert, there may not be enough depth for you, but I learned quite a bit, for example, about the famous Pricnce of Wales V8's--I knew of their existence, and desirability, but this book gave me a bit of "color" regarding their 'back story." If you want to know a bit about more models and versions than you knew existed, like cars of which one were produced, this is a luxe way to learn about them.. So, try to muddle through - there are always amazing graphics to help you along and the Big Mac / Starbucks analogies are pretty sweet too.
