This book is #4 in the series of The Magic School Bus; A Science Chapter Book. Leonard Marcus begins his introduction by telling us that fantasy writers have not enjoyed the spotlight until recently. In stating that the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) scheme originates in England, demonstrate a lack of research on the part of the authors. Here's just one example:
"As she took the ball, she smiled at me.
It wasn't a big smile--no teeth, just the mouth turned up at the corners, with a little crinkle of warmth around her eyes.
But it conquered me completely. He just says "we should try to make things more democratic and more equal and nice, and then probably we'll get to somewhere better, although I don't know what it is." Oh.
And he proposes some efforts of equality, which is plain stupid. I highly recommend this book for any children in your life
