The Witch of Beaver Creek Mine is a fictional young adult adventure story that takes place in Nova Scotia in the 1940s. It is woven around the lives of simple people, their superstitious beliefs, and old-fashioned family values. Readers will encounter Old Maude, a disfigured and much maligned and misunderstood Micmac medicine woman who lives in an abandoned gold mine, as well as lumberjacks, hobos, and several village children whose adventures lead them to Maude and to an eventual understanding of her natural healing powers and goodness.
Great book. In essence, it says a lot about poor rural areas or urban ghettoes in the US in 2014.
This is also a book about what it takes to get out of these problems and about the power of example, love, and friendship.
It is written in a direct and sometimes disturbing way. This was not a gossippy type read.. Not very useful. Now, if I want to keep up with this series, I'll have to buy the next book. Yet, to set herself apart from the rest, besides being the only delegate of African descent, she was also the only one to deliver her speech three time that day in English, French, and German languages (241). It covers training the lower body (back, abs, legs and butt). Seeing them in person was amazing and I tried to get a book from their gift shop but it was only in Russian. I agree with others that have posted here in that there are some things in a person's life that are much better left alone. Even if you get this book for free, don't waste your time. Did I men
